Abstract

This document briefly summarizes various issues concerning the Ambulatory Work Unit (AWU) and AWU weights. The issues considered include: The precision and proper applications of AWU weights; the relationship of the AWU and the analogous Inpatient Work Unit (IWU); and the underlying incentives presented by these workload measurements.
