Abstract

This Performance Oriented Packaging (POP) test was conducted to ascertain whether the Shipping and Storage Container for the Mk 14 Mod 0 Explosive Section meets the Packing Group II requirements specified by the Code of Federal Regulations, Title 49 CFR, Parts 1 07 through 1 78, dated 31 December 1 99 1. The packaged commodity used for the test was one inert Mk 1 4 Mod 0 Explosive Section weighing 52.2 kg (115 pounds). This represents the current maximum commodity weight. To compensate for future growth variations in commodity and/or packaging, 5.4 kg (1 2 pounds) were added. Gross weight of the loaded container was 72.1 kg (1 59 pounds). The test results indicate that the container has conformed to the POP requirements. POP Test of Shipping and Storage Container for the Mk 14 Mod 0 Explosive Section.
