Reliability Techniques for Combined Hardware and Software Systems

Abstract

Techniques have been developed for reliability prediction, allocation, growth and demonstration testing of systems that contain both hardware and software. The techniques are compatible with existing hardware reliability concepts, standards and procedures. A draft DOD-HDBK containing the various reliability techniques was also prepared as a part of this study effort. It is intended that the study results and handbook will form the basis for an approved DOD Handbook on software reliability assessment.
