Short Range Propagation Measurements at 2.4, 4.5 and 11.5 GHz in Indoor and Outdoor Environments

Abstract

This report concerns the project SHF Indoor/Outdoor Propagation Measurements, which has been carried out in cooperation with the Technical University of Delft. Within this project a measurement system has been developed at FEL for wideband coherent propagation measurements (complex frequency response/channel impulse response). Measurements have been carried out at 2.4, 4.75 and 11.5 GHz in indoor (office and conference rooms) and outdoor (forest and open terrain) environments at distances within pico-cellular dimensions (< 50 m). For the outdoor measurements a special technique has been applied to extend the range to distances > 30 m. In total over 1000 measurements have been performed under different conditions. In this report details on the measurement system that was used, and measurement results on path-loss, delay time spread RRMS and the influence of people on the channel (indoor situation), are presented. The measurement results that are available now, form a good basis for further theoretical research and validation of this work, as well as for practical application research.
