Theory of Field Adsorption of Hydrogen

Abstract

Field effects on the adsorption characteristics of H, H2 and H3 on metals are calculated using density functional theory for a jellium metal and for small metal clusters. New dissociation channels are explored and a mechanism for the formation of a field-stabilized linear H3 species is proposed. Field Adsorption, Hydrogen Molecules, Electric Fields.
