Abstract

This Handbook is the first of a series of handbooks which address the issue of Instrument Approach Procedure (IAP) chart improvement in design. The intent is twofold: to review relevant literature that might be applicable to improving the presentation of chart information to support effective and efficient access to information by the user and to develop guidance information based upon this research, that can be easily accessed and implemented by the chart designer. The handbook is intended to offer the chart designer guidance information that can aid in developing charts which clearly present a meaningful visual structure.
