Performance Oriented Packaging Testing of Packing Box for the CKU-5B/A Aircraft Ejection (Rocket) Catapult for Packing Group 11 Solid Hazardous Materials

Abstract

This Performance Oriented Packaging (POP) test was conducted to ascertain whether the packing box for the CKU-5B/A Aircraft Ejection (Rocket) Catapult meets the Packing Group 11 requirements specified by the Code of Federal Regulations, Title 49 CFR, Parts 107 through 178, dated 31 December 1991. The packaged commodity used for the test was an inert CKU-5B/A Rocket Catapult weighing 9 kg (20 pounds). This represents the current maximum commodity weight. To compensate for future growth variations in commodity and/or packaging, 1 kg (2 pounds) was added. Gross weight of the loaded box was 21 kg (46 pounds). The test results indicate that the box has conformed to the POP requirements.
