Sand Waves. Report 1. Sand Wave Shoaling in Navigation Channels

Abstract

This report evaluates shoaling problems attributed to sand waves in navigation channels. The mechanics of bed form development are reviewed, and the physical characteristics, occurrence, and distribution of sand waves are described. Methodology to determine the magnitude of the shoaling problem and dredging techniques that have been used in channels shoaled by sand waves are also discussed. Bed forms, Sediment transport, Dredging, Shoaling, Sand waves, Wave action.
