Environmental Impact Statement. Deactivation of the Minuteman II Missile Wing at Whiteman Air Force Base, Missouri

Abstract

This document assesses the potential environmental impacts of the proposed action and alternatives pertaining to the 351 MW at Whiteman AFB. The cumulative impacts of the proposed action and alternatives in conjunction with the transfer of the 442nd Fighter Wing from Richards-Gebaur AFB, Missouri, and the basing of the 509th Bomb Wing at Whiteman AFB were also assessed. Potential environmental impacts to the following resource categories were considered in this FEIS: air quality; geological resources; water resources; biological resources; cultural, archaeological, and paleontological resources; health and safety; hazardous materials/waste and solid waste; noise; transportation; and socioeconomics. Possible mitigation measures are presented to rehabilitate or restore the affected environment, or to lessen a significant impact.
