Computer Support of Hemoglobin and Blood Research
Abstract
It is well documented that the Adair constants, a sub j, in the saturation equation change, sometimes radically, with changing experimental conditions. Winslow, et al., show the dependence of the Adair constants on pH, PCO2, and DPG; other affectors are Cl- and temperature. We propose a method to incorporate these affectors into the Adair equation in order to predict the saturation under variable conditions. Previous theoretical models of hemoglobin function generally have been limited in scope because the conceptual complexity of the protein does not readily admit explicit modeling. Here we describe a method that allows systems of arbitrary complexity to be modeled readily, and a method to derive an exact relationship between affector concentration and the Adair parameters....
