Drift Scintillation Meter for the Defense Meteorological Satellite Program

Abstract

This study describes the fifth instrument of the Drift Scintillation Meter (DSM2) which was built, tested, and delivered for flight on Air Force DMSP satellites. This report is divided into three sections. Section 1 contains the instrument description and theory of operation. Section 2 contains a description of spacecraft level instrument testing, stimulation requirements, and instrument handling and safety. Section 3 contains a list of the schematics, drawings, parts lists, and wiring lists that describes the as-built configuration of the instrument.
