Knowledge-Based Logistics Planning: Its Application in Manufacturing and Strategic Planning

Abstract

This report summarizes the activities and results of this three-year effort investigating the ideas of constrained heuristic search as applied to large scale manufacturing and transportation planning and scheduling. Topics reported on include constrained heuristic search, activity-based scheduling, distributed scheduling, constraint-directed planning, managing uncertainty and transportation planning (CDART) This effort forms the cornerstone of the constraint-directed planning activities under the joint DARPA and Rome Laboratory Knowledge-Based Planning and Scheduling Program.
