China's Missiles

Abstract

Missiles are a type of weapon which is self propelled, propelled using the reaction principle, and which can guide itself so its warhead strikes the target. They are primarily composed of the warhead, power equipment, guidance system and the shell. Missile types are divided into types according to combat missions. There are strategic missiles, campaign missiles and tactical missiles. They are also categorized by range as intercontinental ballistic missiles, long range missiles, intermediate range missiles and short range missiles. In addition,, they can be divided according to launch point and the location of the target, by they weapon they are used against and the type of propellant the motor uses as well as characteristics of launch points such as airborne missiles. China first successfully launched a missile of her own design in November of 1960. This signified a major step forward for China in missile technology. In the past 30 years, China's national defense science and technology workers have started out from scratch, worked energetically to make out country strong, done diligent research, and developed short range, intermediate range, long range models of strategic missile series with different capabilities. This has greatly increased china's national defense capabilities and increased China's position in the world, increased her prestige and her military power.
