After Action Report: EN DFT 2406, Exercise 'Caminos De La Paz 92', Costa Rica.

Abstract

Concept of the Operation. The 43rd Combat Engineer Battalion (Heavy) provided a Task Force to participate on a U.S. Southern Command sponsored engineer Deployment for Training (DFT) exercise Caminos De La Paz 92, Costa Rica. The exercise was conducted from 15 January to 15 May 1992. The Task Force consisted of an Active Component (AC) Headquarters element to exercise command and control over all operations and a reinforced Combat Heavy Engineer Company for long duration projects. The exercise was structured so that the AC DFT was combined with a series of small units (15-50 soldiers) of Air Force and Army National Guard and Reserve Components (RC) Overseas Deployments and Training (ODT). The primary mission of the Task Force was to enhance training and readiness, to support the Costa Rican government and to help develop the infrastructure of the country through the construction and/or renovation of roads, bridges, and schools (Humanitarian/ Civic Action (H/CA) projects).
