Naval Shipboard Non-Tactical ADP Program (SNAP) Automated Medical System (SAMS) Computer Assisted Medical Diagnosis (CAMD) Module Functional Description

Abstract

Medical care aboard U.S. submarines and small surface ships is rendered by specifically trained Independent Duty Corpsmen. To provide these corpsmen with important diagnostic and treatment information while deployed, a Computer Assisted Medical Diagnosis (CAMD) module has been conceived. The Functional Description for the CAMD module was developed to define the CAMD module's capability in terms of functions designed to meet the needs of Independent Duty Corpsmen. The major functions identified include: Diagnostic Support, Therapeutic Plan Development, Medical Reference Library, Maintain a Diagnostic Record, Medical Education, and Knowledge Base Authoring.
