Archeological Survey Along Sals Creek Ditch

Abstract

Mid-Continental Research Associates, Inc., conducted an archeological survey along both sides of a 1 mile long section of Sals Creek Ditch for the Memphis District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The survey, conducted in October 1991 by Michael Sierzchula, located two previously unknown archaeological sites. MCRA recommends that the dredging be done from the north bank to avoid impacting the archaeological sites. If this is not feasible then the two sites should be tested for National Register of Historic Places significance.
