Natural Language Generation

Abstract

This document reports on research investigating the automatic planning and generation of multisentence text and multimodal presentations by computer. This work was performed from mid-1989 to late 1991 at the Information Services institute of the University of Southern California (USC/ISI). The research consisted of three stages: development of the basic planning algorithms, collection and synthesis of subsidiary information required for text and multimedia presentations, and design and construction of a new type of communication planner architecture....
