Preliminary Reconnaissance Report, Rochester Harbor, New York

Abstract

A number of potential alternatives were investigated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to reduce wave surge problems and damages at Rochester Harbor, N.Y. Rochester Harbor is located on the south shore of Lake Ontario at the mouth of the Genesee River in central New York State. The primary problem investigated was wave surge created by storms with strong northeast winds. However, based on a preliminary analysis and Department of Army policies, there are insufficient benefits to warrant federal interest to continue study of the wave surge problem at Rochester Harbor.
