Summary Report of the Symposium on High Temperature Superconductors: Materials Research for Emerging Technologies Held in Boston, Massachusetts on 2-6, December 1991

Abstract

The emergence of thin film and bulk technologies has resulted in an increasing emphasis in applications. The purpose of this symposium is to bring together a group of interdisciplinary scientists and engineers to help identify and solve the material related issues that still hamper the application of HTS materials. Specific topics to be emphasized include: Transport in bulk superconductors; Weak links and Josephson junctions: formation and control of properties; Effect of processing on properties of thin films; Correlation between the microstructure and transport (DC and microwave) in thin films; Noise in HTS materials; Multilayered structures; Grain Boundaries and Interfaces; and New HTS materials: bulk materials and thin films.
