Advanced Unmanned Search System (AUSS) Testbed. FY 1987 Development Testing

Abstract

In FY 1987, tests were conducted with the Advanced Unmanned Search System (AUSS) vehicle to define and solve technical and performance-risk areas. This report describes these FY 1987 AUSS sea tests, including the modifications and improvements, made to collect data needed to support the next-generation system design. This report covers the most critical risk areas that were encountered in the FY 1987 sea tests. The areas covered included acoustic link, acoustic tracking, vehicle navigation, vehicle control, obstacle avoidance, search sensors, and system computers.
