Method of Coagulating Synthetic Water-Emulsion Latexes (Description of an Invention for an Author's Certificate),

Abstract

For reducing the content of resin in the separated polymer and the amount supplied for coagulation of the electrolyte a simple and effective method has been developed for separating the rubber from latex by means of solutions of electrolytes which have been subjected to exposure to a magnetic or electromagnetic field. At the basis of application of the proposed method lies the established phenomenon that the dissolving capacity of water and weak electrolytes under the influence of an electromagnetic field increases considerable as a result of the opening of the solvate shells of the molecules. Any source of a magnetic or electromagnetic field can be used as the generator. The results given below were obtained when using solutions of electrolytes which has been exposed to an electromagnetic field for the coagulation of the polymer from the emulsion.
