Hydrogen-Rated System for in Vitro Studies at Pressure: Operating Procedures and Emergency Procedures

Abstract

A special apparatus was constructed to study the neurophysiologic effect of high pressure and the pharmacology of various gaseous agents using the isolated nerve terminal (synaptosome) tissue preparation. Design features were incorporated to permit investigations using H2, among other gases. Detailed operating procedures and emergency procedures for the use of H2 were established. These procedures are memorialized by this report. The theory of operation of the device and a pertinent overview of safety considerations are covered.... Hydrogen, Hyperbaric, Superfusion.
