Human Factors in Aviation Maintenance. Phase 2. Progress Report

Abstract

In this second phase of research on Human Factors in Aviation Maintenance, the emphasis has evolved from problem definition to development of demonstrations and prototypes. These demonstrations include a computer-based training simulation for troubleshooting an airliner environmental control system and a software system to store and display documents. The report describes laboratory and workplace evaluations of workcards, lighting, experimental systems for inspection training, and the initial effects of communication training for maintenance workers. A chapter of the Human Factors Guide for Aircraft Maintenance is described. Human factors, Maintenance, Task analysis, Computer-based instruction, Simulation, Hypermedia.
