Control System Analyses for the Driver Gas Fill System of the BRL 1/6th Scale LB/TS Test Facility

Abstract

This report covers the design of an automatic control system for the gas supply of a blast simulator facility. The control system regulates the output temperature of a heat exchanger used to evaporate liquid nitrogen and heat the resulting gas to high temperature. An analytical model is developed for the two phase flow through the heat exchanger. A design is developed for the valves used in the control system. The properties of the values in the design and the analytical model of the flow are used to analyze the dynamics of the control system. . .
