Report on the Age of Department of Defense Specifications and Standards (1992)

Abstract

This report provides a statistical age profile of the standardization documents prepared by each DoD preparing activity. Under the Defense Standardization Program overage document review program, no more than 20 percent of the documents in the DoD Index of Specifications and Standards should be overage, meaning that 5 years has elapsed since a document was last reviewed and action taken to update, validate, cancel, or inactivate for new design. This report shows that approximately 45 percent of the documents are now overage.
