A Vibrational Spectroscopic Study of the Structure of Electroactive Self-Assembled Monolayers of Viologen Derivatives

Abstract

Surface Enhanced Raman and glancing angle FTIR are used to characterize the structure of self-assembled monolayers of viologen derivatives at electrode surfaces. Both techniques rely on the surface selection rules. These monolayers were found to have some degree of order, with the long axis of the viologen group found to be along the surface normal....
