Unsteady Separated Flows: Empirical Model and Control

Abstract

Research examined the similarity behavior between forced unsteady separated flows elicited by airfoils and delta wings. For the first time, all of the existing unsteady separation data reported in open literature was assembled and contrasted directly. A vortex model which predicted vortex development and shedding characteristics from first principles was developed. Preliminary work was also initiated in using neural network techniques to model and predict these nonlinear unsteady flows.... Vortex Models, Forced Unsteady Separation.
