To Extend the Thirteen-Moment Theory and Its Application to Problems in Rarefied Hypersonic Flow

Abstract

The theoretical development and supporting particle-simulation (DMSC) and other computational studies carried out during the past two years have strengthened the principle for correlating a flow far from translational equilibrium with the Navier-Stokes (NS) solutions and expand the scope of its application demonstrating its applicability in the correlation/prediction of velocity and enthalpy profiles as well as distribution functions for monatomic gas
