Automated Shirt Collar Manufacturing. Volume 2. Collar Band Folding and Fixing

Abstract

This document presents Volume II of the report of research into automated shirt collar manufacturing which address-collar band folding and fixing. Specifically presented in this volume is the result of research into the folding and fixing of woven fabrics, so that banded shirt collars might be automatically manufactured, without the use of adhesives. This was accomplished by folding collar bands through the use of moisture, heating, and cooling. The use of conductive heating and cooling was found to be especially effective in tests conducted on two proof-of-concept machines developed by JetSew and Clemson University.
