Evaluation of DCDS for Meeting the Data Collection Requirements for Software Specification, Development and Support

Abstract

This technical report consists of five separate but related reports which evaluate the Distributed Computing Design System (DCDS). DCDS was developed by TRW as a software development environment for real-time, distributed systems. The principal investigator evaluated DCDS in terms of: (a) its data collection requirements, (b) its software development information completeness, (c) its usability, (d) how it compares to five commercially available CASE tools, and (e) its suitability as an Ada Programming Support Environment (APSE).... CASE Tools, Distributed computing design system, DCDS, Teamwork, Excelerator, EPOS, DesignAid, SA Tools, Software engineering environment systems, SEES, Ada programming support environment, APSE.
