DMSO Research and Development Functional Working Group Workshop Proceedings Held in McLean, Virginia on 2-4 December 1992

Abstract

During 1992, a series of workshops was conducted in support of the Defense Modeling and Simulation Office (DMSO) to determine the modeling and simulation (M and S) needs of the defense M&S community. This community is partitioned into five major areas: Education, Training and Military Operations (ETMO), Research and Development (R and D), Test and Evaluation (T and E), Production and Logistics (P and L), and Analysis. Each of these areas has a Functional Working Group (FWG) representing its interests to the DMSO and other interested parties. Workshops were conducted to assist the FWGs in determining the 'requirements pull' to be considered in the development of the DMSO Master Plan. This report presents the results of the Research and Development (R and D) Workshop for developing Modeling and Simulation (M and S) needs for the R and D community. The executive summary provides an overview of the background, objectives, organization, and summary results of the R and D Workshop. The body presents the workshop background and objectives describes the working groups, process, and products, and provides an expanded summarization of the workshop results....
