The Operational Movement Planning System: A Prototype for the Strategic Command Function

Abstract

This paper describes the Operational Movements Planning System (OMPS) ; a prototype computer system to support the Defense Movements Coordination Agency in planning strategic movements. OWS consists of two elements. The Staff Table Manipulation Tool stores, retrieves, sorts and summaries staff table information. The Planning Process Software supports the definition, storage and application of constraints, and multiple methods for the allocation of items to be moved to transport assets.
