Coastal Ocean Modeling Workshop held in Long Beach, Mississippi on 23-24 March 1993.

Abstract

The recent changes in global politics that we all have experienced have also led to a rethinking of naval strategy. This strategy has been summarized in the White Paper '...From the Sea'. The primary message of this new policy is that the Navy will refocus from deep water operations to coastal and over-the-shore operations. The goal of the Coastal Ocean Modeling Workshop is to review ongoing work in light of this changing strategy and to recommend a program that is responsive to these changes. In doing so, the aim is to assure that the objectives of the Navy Ocean Modeling and Prediction Program are in line with Navy/Marine Corps operational needs for environmental products and that modeling efforts yield products that are optimized for rapid implementation into operational environments.
