Bones Securement System Evaluation.

Abstract

The U.S. Army Defense Ammunition Center and School (USADACS), Validation Engineering Division (SMCAC-DEV), was tasked by USADACS, Transportation Engineering Division (SMCAC-DET), to perform an evaluation of the Bones Securement System to determine if the system was capable of securing ammunition in commercial intermodal freight containers for shipment by rail and road. Results from rail impact testing of a commercial container loaded with 155mm projectile pallets indicated that the Bones Securement System was inadequate for transportation of ammunition by rail.
