Identity Cards Required by the Geneva Conventions.

Abstract

The purpose of this Instruction is to revise requirements for the form, issuance and use of identity cards required by the Geneva Conventions of August 12, 1949, for the Protection of War Victims. The provisions of this Instruction apply to all DoD Components (Offices of the Secretary of Defense, the Military Department, the Defense Agencies, the organization of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and the Unified and Specified Commands) and cover all members of the United States Armed Forces on active duty and civilian personnel authorized to accompany the military forces in areas of combat.
