Assignment to Joint Tours of Duty

Abstract

This directive reissues reference (a) DoD Directive 1320.5, to clarify the requirement for active duty officers to serve a tour of duty with a Joint, Combined, Allied, Unified command or staff, a Defense Agency, or the Office of the Secretary of Defense, hereafter referred to as a joint tour, to qualify for promotion to the grade of brigadier general or rear admiral (Navy).
