Phase Conjugation and Beam Combination Using Stimulated Brillouin Scattering

Abstract

This report summarizes work performed on the use of stimulated Brillouin scattering for phase conjugation and beam combination. The mutual coherence between two stimulated Brillouin signals produced by two, partially overlapped pumped beams is studied both experimentally and theoretically. In addition, the transient buildup of a phase conjugate Stokes beam is described using a zero-order numerical solution to the governing equations.
