Hotine's (Omega, Phi, Nu) Coordinate System

Abstract

This report is an extensive reworking of the material in Chapter 12 of Hotine's treatise Mathematical Geodesy (U.S. Department of Commerce, Washington, D.C. 1969) which dealt with the basic properties of the (Omega, phi, Nu) coordinate system. In 1990, the author showed that Hotine's derivation of this coordinate system was incomplete, and the present document contains the full details of that work as well as the material required to rigorously complete Hotine's analysis. The latter material has not been previously published.... Differential geodesy, (Omega, phi, Nu) Coordinate system
