WESTEX: A Numerical, One Dimensional Reservoir Thermal Model. Report 1. User's Manual

Abstract

WESTEX is a numerical, one-dimensional reservoir thermal model developed at the US Army Engineer Waterways Experiment Station. This report was developed to assist users of the WESTEX computer model. The report discusses the concepts of thermal stratification in reservoirs and describes how those concepts are implemented in the WESTEX model. The report provides an overview of the execution of the WESTEX model and includes guidance on preparing the required input data for the model. Examples of model input and model output are provided. Reservoir operation, Stratification, Reservoir release quality, Thermal modeling, Selective withdrawal, Water quality modeling.
