Sewers and Process Water System Investigations, Version 3.1, Task 10

Abstract

This final technical plan describes the work that will be undertaken to assess the contamination associated with the sanitary sewer system, the chemical sewer system, and the process water system. These systems are located within several different areas on RMA. The areas are generally defined as south plants, north plants, administration, the basins, and the rail classification yard. Task 10 will focus on the potential of the three systems to be a contamination source and a contaminant pathway. The specific objectives of task 10 are to: (1) determine which segments of the sewer systems and the process water system are contaminated; (2) identify leak locations in the systems; (3) evaluate the extent of soil contamination resulting from the leaks; and (4) provide litigation support to apportion cleanup costs between the army and shell.
