Artificial Phosphoesterase: Metal Activation by Strain

Abstract

In the past several years, we have been developing a unified mechanistic approach to designing artificial hydrolytic metalloenzymes. The unified mechanistic approach led us to develop some of the most reactive cis- diaqua metal complexes for hydrolyzing not only phosphate esters with good or poor leaving groups but also for hydrolyzing carboxyl esters, amides, and nitriles.
