The 1992 Inland Waterway Review

Abstract

The primary objective of this report is to consolidate current Corps information on the inland waterway system and to present a readable presentation of the program. Primary emphasis is given to the fuel taxed inland waterway system. A companion document on the Great Lakes is ready for publication and will be distributed concurrently with the 1992 Inland Waterway Review. The overall purpose of this report is to provide an overview of the inland waterways system. To make the report most useful for that purpose, it presents the reader with information that is intended to be the best combination of brevity and completeness needed to understand and evaluate the system. The report covers all important aspects of the waterways system, and provides a level of detail consistent with its purpose. In the interest of brevity, it contains a minimum of analyses, and as a result, no new or remarkable findings. Observations and interpretations of the information are in this Executive Summary.
