Application of Rainfall-Runoff Simulation for Flood Forecasting

Abstract

Flood-warning objectives, approaches to short-term hydrologic forecasting, and characteristics of rainfall-runoff models for forecast applications, are discussed. HEC-1 and HEC-2 are described as illustrations of models that can be applied to develop warning criteria; HEC1F and the Sacramento Model are described as illustrations of models for real-time application.
