Interface Mechanics of Particulate Media with Ribbed Inclusions.

Abstract

The report summarizes work performed under a one-year AASERT grant to Scott A. Raschke at the University of Michigan. During this period, tasks included: (1) Construction of a large 1/2 axisymmetric triaxial apparatus for studying interface mechanics of cylindrical ribbed inclusions in particulate matter (sand); (2) Analysis of data from previous study of the mechanics of plane ribbed inclusions; and (3) Development of a computer visualization system for soil micromechanics research.
