Causal Fir Matrices with Anticausal Fir Inverses, and Application in Characterization of Biorthonormal Filter Banks

Abstract

Causal FIR matrices with anticausal FIR inverses have a key role in the theory of FIR perfect reconstruction filter banks. We explore the theory of such matrices. Some general results on nature of inverses of first order causal FIR matrices are then presented. This leads, in particular, to a complete parameterization of the Biorthonormal Lapped Transform (BOLT) reported earlier.
