Computer Program for Numerical Evaluation of the Performance of an Overmoded TM01 Circular to TE10 Rectangular Waveguide Mode Converter

Abstract

Two identical rectangular waveguides are fed by means of two symmetrically placed apertures in a circular waveguide. Several modes can propagate in the circular waveguide but only the TE10 mode can propagate in the rectangular waveguides. The rectangular waveguides have identical dimensions but may be terminated with different loads. Power is transmitted from the propagating modes in the circular waveguide to the TE10 mode mode in each rectangular waveguide. A computer program was written to evaluate this power and the magnitude of each orthogonal component of the tangential electric field in the apertures. This program is obtained by modifying an existing program. The modifications are described and listed. Sample input and output data are provided Mode converter, Method of moments, TM01 mode, Mode, TE10 mode.
