Dual-Use Applications of Infrared Sensitive Materials

Abstract

High performance infrared focal plane arrays made from sensitive materials such as mercury cadmium telluride grown on a substrate of cadmium zinc telluride have been proposed for use in an extensive variety of military equipment for over a decade, ranging from early-warning satellites to missile seekers. In this report, we describe and quantify the potential dual-use markets for such detectors.
