A Survey of Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD) Contractor and Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) Software Engineering Environments (SEEs)
Abstract
This annotated briefing describes the results of a survey of Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD) contractor software engineering environments (SEEs). It also reports the current status of selected commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) SEEs that employ a general interoperability component such as a data repository or an intercommunication tool. The purpose of this briefing is to aid the BMD Organization (BMDO) in evaluating SEE-related risk mitigation. Contractor information was derived from one-on-one interviews with program offices or contractors for BMD system elements. COTS SEE information was derived from hands-on demonstrations of the products. The conclusions of this briefing are that more than 230 different products are now being used for BMD software development.
