Fast Acting Optical Deflection

Abstract

The transmission spectra in the wavelength range of 400 nm to 1000nm have been studied with sinusoidal phase transmission gratings formed on photo- resist materials on glass substrates and dielectric mirrors (filters) formed by depositing multiple and alternate layers of 'High' and 'Low' inorganic dielectric materials on glass and polycarbonate substrates. With the sinusoidal crossed two groove profiles transmission gratings Of groove depth approx. 896 on a single substrate a transmission was of-less than 1% at 500-680nm and the transmittance did not exceed l2% over the entire range of 400-1000nm. The transmission over-the visible part of the wavelength was poor although the gratings satisfied the required specification. The multiple layer all dielectric mirror, produced on one surface of a polycarbonate substrate (50mmx50mmx3=) satisfied the following specification: <O.5% transmission at 532nm, <1.0% transmission from 694nm, 50% transmission from 400nm to 500nm and from 560 nm to 600 nm. The performance mentioned above satisfied adequately the required specification.
