Lifting the Fog of Corporate Information Management

Abstract

Corporate Information Management (CIM) is a very complex, multi- faceted program which is being implemented in the Department of Defense. It is so broad and all encompassing, that it appears more as a vision than a program. The intent is to operate DOD like a business enterprise, by streamlining how we do business and then implementing state-of-the-art information technology. CIM will impact every facet of DOD, from administrative support to the 'warfighter' in combat. This paper takes a broad look at CIM from a layman's perspective, and provides a simplified explanation of the program.
